So Jackie, what do ‘traffic rankings’ mean?

how many hits a site gets.

a lot of sites use different counters to measure how much traffic they get. different counters provide different data and web site owners can promote their statistics in a variety of ways (page views, page visitors, page impressions, etc.).

what’s nice about alexa is that it’s basically a universal measuring stick. it just cuts through the crap and let’s someone figure out how one site measures up against another in terms of actual eyes on the page.

How many hits…what, per month or per year, or what? I don’t think Dave Clapper is claiming that many hits per quarter at Smokelong. So…I’m still wondering at these traffic ranks are.

alexa doesn’t really specify how many hits per day per site. it just measures all the sites online against one another.

word riot gets about 350 unique visitors a day if that helps for comparison sake.

And I’ll bet WR gets as many or more hits as any of the others. That’s why I don’t understand the Alexa numbers. If one looks at these rankings - they don’t make any sense (to me). But I thank you for clarifying - 350 hits/day has real meaning.

By the way, will you be able to make it to the KGB on Friday, May 2?

i wasn’t making any sort of judgment on the mags i listed. (the ones i listed are among my favorites, which is why i looked ‘em up.)

i just find little factoids like this interesting.

i don’t imagine there’s any great difference in hits per day among the online lit mags.

going to try to make the may 2 reading but i have a 5 a.m. shift the next day so it’s still a bit up in the air for me.
