I updated a bunch of pages on this site, including Articles/Interviews, Now (which existed in a state of suspended animation for like a year), Readings, Reviews/Blurbs and Writing.

In the mean time, I’m converting Word Riot Press books into HTML format, putting the files through Amazon’s digital text platform and making them available for sale on the Amazon Kindle store. I’m going to try to get Word Riot’s monthly issues available through the Kindle store (for like a dime an issue or whatever the lowest price is that I can list them for).

A lot of folks seem to read Word Riot when they’re taking a breather at work. Think of other period of downtime when readers might be up for losing themselves in a short story — while commuting, for example. I like the idea that an online magazine could be made available on a hand held machine and read any time, anywhere on a screen that looks like paper. Maybe this can be a means to spread the reach of online lit mags. Or maybe I’m thinking all crazy-like while I’m jonesing for Turkey Day.

At least this time the computer’s hardware isn’t going nuts on me. The plastic casing has chipped off one of the hinges that link the keyboard to the screen.  I can’t close my laptop anymore but it’s still performing fine.

I use my computer for work. I need something durable with a lot of memory. Disk space doesn’t matter to me all that much.

And “Never is a Promise” is the best song ever. That is all.

Thanks also to everyone who came out to the KGB Bar. I was pleasantly surprised by the turn-out and the interest level in the anthology.

I’m going into the city tonight to drink a toast to the paperback release of Ned Vizzini’s book It’s Kind of a Funny Story. Then, at the end of the week, Book Expo America starts. I’m going to grab all the free books I can get my grubby, sausage fingers on.

I’m going to Book Expo America next week. If you see me at Book Expo, high-five me and I’ll give you a nickel. I like giving away money.

Book Expo has this Facebook/MySpace type Web site for attendees. I found it very entertaining for a couple of days. Now I’m indifferent to it.

My new thing is writing in the super early mornings after work. (I work at home from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) I’ve also taken to writing facts on index cards from the non-fiction books I’ve been reading. My brain has atrophed since college. I’m trying to un-atrophy it.

Paula Anderson joked about getting the above graphic as a tattoo after we put out her chapbook.

I never though much of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s acting before, but he’s a character actor for real, dude. No more ‘Angels in the Outfield’ for the boy, no sir. The DVD had some footage of Gordon-Levitt and his co-star doing a reading from the original 1995 book by Scott Heim, which is probably horribly boring for non-book folk, but I really dug it. I have the book wishlisted now. The parts the actors read from seemed to flow really well.
